Eugen Popescu has warned of the dramatic situation which the Romanian community faces in the Timok region.

According to him, the situation of these 300,000 Timok Romanians is one of the most serious of all Romanian communities in the border regions and in the Balkans.

Unlike their brothers from Hungary or Ukraine, Timok Romanians have never had an education in their mother tongue. Eugen Popescu has underlined the problems that the Romanian Orthodox Church has in attempts to return to Timok region.
